Count the real load, not just the number of ports. A 24 port PoE switch may not be able to power 24 high draw devices at once.
Check the switch power budget, the PoE standard required by each device and whether any ports have per port limits.
Leave headroom. Running a PoE switch at the limit is asking for irritating intermittent problems.
Document what each port powers. This helps when someone adds one more camera and the network starts behaving like it has taken offence.
